05/18/26 - One Step Forward, Two Wheels Backward
Mechanical Team - We reached a major milestone during this meeting by finishing all the individual components of the robot and transitioning into full assembly. While putting the pieces together, we hit a roadblock when we discovered several parts were misaligned, forcing us to disassemble a few sections to correct the fit. After resolving the alignment issues, we successfully attached the servos and wheels to the chassis. The team was riding such a wave of momentum that we eagerly stayed an extra 30 minutes to push through to the finish; however, we realized late in the session that the wheels had been installed incorrectly. While we have to wait until the next meeting to fix the wheel orientation, we made massive strides today and are incredibly close to a fully assembled robot!
Programming Team - The programming team received our hub, so the meeting was mainly focused on that. We started with finding out which parts of the kit (the hub kit) should go with the mechanical team versus the programming team. In the end, the decision was to keep them in a specific box which the programming team could access so both teams are able to use the driver hub, control hub, controller, and other parts. We created new tasks: Steps for Using the REV Control Hub and Run Starter Code on Starter Bot. The first one focuses on preparation for speaking with the Alpacas. The second one focuses on when we have the base code so we can test how to plug it into the robot. We continued to test and toy around with FTCSIM.org.
Business Team - Today, we were mostly doing our own thing. Masha, Leen and Lana were organizing kits for our upcoming WeDo program at the library while everyone else was working on our thank you presentation for our very first sponsors, Predator Motorsports Inc. ! This was mostly a busy day, and we got quite a lot of work done!
